Cleaning the kitchen in an office building is a daunting task.

Here is a general timeline for your office kitchen cleaning…

  • Clean up
  • Clearout
  • pristine appliances
  • Fill the trash cans
  • Clean the ceilings and walls.
  • Sweep the ground.
  • Clean the floor.

Cleaning an office kitchen is very comparable to cleaning any other type of space, but when you have a lot to do and everything is a bit grimy, it may be stressful.

In order to effectively clean from the top down, you must first empty out as much as you can.

Next, remove the bins and place new bin bags inside. You may need to fill them up again soon, but at least the garbage won’t smell or leak as it leaves.

The next step is to start wiping. Remove any oil, sticky residue, and crumbs from the countertops, walls, tiles, and any other surfaces on the upper floor. Once you’ve finished, you may sweep the debris off the floor and into a dustpan with confidence that you won’t knock any more pieces over. Although a Hoover might work just as well, a broom’s abrasion on a sticky floor is beneficial.

Following that, it’s time to mop up and go. The workplace kitchen is tidy; the mission has been fulfilled!

Initially, restock

Stock up on plenty of sponges, anti-bacterial spray, cleaning cloths, and washing solutions. Make it simpler for your staff to clean up after themselves by keeping cleaning materials visible and easily accessible.

This and other helpful advice for a nicer, cleaner office kitchen may be found in our article, Office Kitchen Ideas.

1. Clean the sink and do the dishes.

Your workplace kitchen sink is completely worthless if it is filled with dishes, so wash the dishes first. Better still if your office has a dishwasher! Scrub the washbasin with a towel to make sure it is very clean. With vinegar and baking soda, tough limescale may be removed.

Try pouring a couple boiling kettles down the plughole to clear any fatty buildup in the pipes if the washbasin stinks.

You have a basis to work from with a clan sink without polluting anything else.

2. Empty the refrigerator.

It’s time to throw out all of the expired and mouldy food that is currently in the refrigerator. Masks and gloves may be necessary equipment in this situation! Take everything out, look at the expiration dates, and throw away any expired or mouldy items.

If someone’s food has gone bad, don’t be concerned that you’ll upset them by tossing it out. They won’t consume anything when it has a colony developing on it, therefore it shouldn’t be in the fridge. Rotting food is also harmful.

However, occasionally it might be murky. So maybe in a later piece, we’ll talk about office fridge manners. In addition, if this is a recurring issue, think about purchasing a beverage refrigerator with a glass front so that customers can see what is within more readily.

Anyway, throw away the undesirable items and spray an antibacterial cleaner around the fridge. Remove the shelves and vegetable drawers, then scrub them completely. If the refrigerator has a drainage channel, keep it clear of obstructions to prevent flooding.

3. Clean the kitchen appliances in your office.

It’s time to clean the stalactites off the microwave ceiling, descale the kettle, and decrumb the toaster (you know what we’re talking about). Also, remember to use the dishwasher. If you don’t keep an eye on it, things could start to smell bad inside.

Ideally, your bean-to-cup coffee maker will cycle for a thorough cleaning every day. But if not, or if it has been neglected for some time, then start cleaning here as well.

It’s crucial to clean these items right away to prevent getting dirt and crumbs on other surfaces after the big clean. The following detailed instructions will show you how to clean (and maintain) your office kitchen’s appliances:

  • Cleaning The Microwave at The Office
  • Why it’s important to clean the workplace kettle
  • Cleaning the office dishwasher: the guidelines
  • How to clean the coffee maker at work

For each appliance, follow the instructions to get it functioning and smelling like new.

4. Bins

The trash bins may already be overflowing with stale food and used wipes. To prevent leaving any weeks-old trash and mouldy food on the floor after you’ve cleaned it, empty them right away.

Check the wall adjacent to the trashcan as well. It probably has tea stains and bin juice all over it.

Use this chance to wash the painted wall without causing any damage. We have a guide on how to properly clean the painted walls in your office, which may be helpful.

5. The tidy!

Okay, you’re now prepared to clean! Start with the cobwebs in the corners and work your way down, beginning with the top of the refrigerator and any greasy dust. Hot water and dish soap work well to cut through oil. Work your way down, polishing tiles with vinegar and baking soda (you can also use the same mixture on taps) and cleaning worktops with anti-bac.

The floor is now all that is left.

First, clean the surface debris using a brush and dustpan. Vacuuming also helps, although it might not be as efficient as broom abrasion. Finally, mop the floor by first beginning in the furthest corner and moving towards the entrance or open end while using a pail filled with hot water and floor cleanser. To truly remove the oil from the floor, regularly rinse and squeeze the mop.

And it completes everything! Hard labour, huh? Unfortunately, you won’t be able to stop in and pour yourself a tea until the floor has had time to dry. And be careful to explain it when you do!
